I went to a super all inclusive hotel with a girlfriend to Tenerife last January, which I knew from the start that my husband Dennis would love. I manages to save enough before I finished work for us to go this winter, and squirreled it away (and managed not to touch it - very hard - I'm rubbish with money). I didn't say anything to Dennis, knowing he is worried about money, especially over Christmas, and I wanted to make sure that I would still have it when Christmas had been paid for. After we had opened our presents - daughter was exstatic with her sat. nav. ! I gave him an envelope with a printed 'voucher' for the holiday. He had no idea. I dare not book it in case it clashes with any football. He is busy with stock take in January, so we will go in February. He was so happy, it was great. He is still worried about the money and thinks we should save it for emergencies, but after the year we have had, he agreed that a week in the sun will be well worth it. He said that it makes my hand blender and chocs look a bit pathetic from him, but then realised that the present is for both of us, not just him. Bahia Principe, Costa Adeje, here we come. 2010 is going to be a much better year, I can feel it in my water (and that's not another kidney infection I don't think!) Just wanted to share that with you, I'm so looking forward to it. Jan x

Wonderful!!! I love the excitment of planning something special!!
I know what you mean about football clashes- my hubby's the same- everything revolves around it! Still I dont mind- he has to put up with a lot from me and deserves his 'me time'.
Have a great time!!

Hi Jan Well done for saving for such a brilliant pressie. Apparently you can see the stars very clearly in tenerife, as there isnt as much light polution there, or so I believe, its a place I want to go to. So it will be so romantic too. Have a brilliant time.
